It’s February 20, 1962. The day had finally arrived for Mercury-Atlas 6, NASA’s third human spaceflight and the first for a U.S. astronaut to orbit the Earth. John Glenn, the elite pilot selected, had trained for three years for the mission, while NASA made countless calculations and preparations. At 14:47 UTC, Friendship 7 launched. The ride was bumpy, and Glenn's pulse climbed. But soon, the flight smoothed, and the spacecraft entered orbit. “Zero G and l feel fine,” he told the control center. Soon, he got a sublime view of Earth: “Oh that view is tremendous… I don't know what you can say about a day when you see four beautiful sunsets.” He safely returned from space to be heralded as a hero, and the successful mission was a monumental achievement for our country.
Here at Single Source, we’ve also been working hard toward a some big accomplishments... though admittedly on a somewhat less celestial scale. Over the past year, we put a lot of time, effort, and investment into our company, preparing for an exciting new phase.
Much of our investment has been in product development, making sure our offerings serve our customers better than ever. Quality service is a cornerstone of our business, and we don’t plan on ever calling it a day. Our developments for Infor Service Management help our customers get the most out of their investments in enterprise software. Productivity Tools, and more recently the Critical Numbers dashboard, for example, enhance the efficiency of ISM. We’re all about putting more control into our customer’s hands.
Speaking of which, a large area of our product development in 2017 was in IncentViz. Time and time again, we saw our customers dealing with the pain point of processing commissions, and we couldn’t stand idly by. We dove in to create a solution that enables customers to better tackle this problem, taking the headache out of crunching the numbers and offering more flexibility in the area of incentive management. We don’t think many other software development companies would have jumped into solving this problem, and we’re proud of that. IncentViz continues to evolve as we get feedback from its users.
We’ve also been working behind the scenes to relaunch The Service School. Here, we aim to help our customers take advantage of the technology available to them through workshops and on-demand training. We’ve worked on over 70 videos of educational content, and more is on the way! This platform will make onboarding even more streamlined as well as help customers learn what software functionalities they aren’t currently using that might be beneficial. We'll announce more updates about The Service School soon!
Finally, we put a lot of focus on our people, both hiring new members and engaging our current ones. The quality of our Consulting Services depends on extraordinary talent, and well keep growing to be able to serve our customers' needs. Also, we took the time to improve our onboarding, evaluation, and retention programs, laying the groundwork for a stronger-than-ever company going into 2018. It’s going to be a great year, and just like NASA, we couldn’t achieve our goals without a stellar team!
